100 WORD STATEMENT

The title for my project is “positive”, it communicates that natural light can provide us more besides lighting.

I have experimented with different models and revealed that improving the use of light can make our lives more active.

My process is to build space models with different light effect. I explored the light effect with screen, explored how light enters different spaces and imitated the natural light to obvers the how the light change. The effects for these are really helpful, for example I added some openings at the top of the wall to allow the morning light to pass to remind me to get up.

The application of these experiments has communicated how the light makes me more passionate.

The materials use are inspired from the fusion360 activity, i feel interesting to combine several materials with different feelings to create a contrast.

The inspiration image for materials and colour choose, combine two contrast colour. simple off-white for interior space make me fell calm.

• Fusion 360 Model in paper

the scale of the model is 1:100

the model was made by sketch paper which is thicker than normal a4 print paper.

• Iterative Model with an additional source of natural light at a new scale.

Developed the plan drawing with wall thickness and indicated the windows and exterior wall
I made the model with larger scale in 1:25 which allow me to make the interior facilities.

I found that different orientation of the thresholds allow the light enter different space and do not effect other room.

From this experiment, i found that the light effect would change when I imitate the natural light. it would be helpful to consider this into the room design, use the natural light effectively to adjust living habits

Finally, I apply what i experimented so far to my room design development.

• change the design the window. Add an opaque window and the shape can be change allow to create some interesting effect.
• change the roof of the room. The roof is divided into two parts, the roof for the bathroom is higher to create some thresholds, allow the natural light enter the bathroom room directly, but do not influence the effect for sleeping space.
• create some openings at the bottom and the top of the exterior wall. the light effect change as the time going, remind me the on time schedule.
